Correct Installation is important:
Corriglas is fixed and flashed on similar principles as steel roofing. Minimum fall is 5 degrees.
Start by fixing the first sheet at the end farthermost from the usual wind direction. If end laps are necessary, start at the bottom corner.
Corriglas Corrugated and Greca sheets should be crest fixed at every second or third corrugation at the ends and every third or fourth corrugation on intermediate supports. Always use Ampelite fixing screws and weather seals.
Corriglas 5 Rib sheets should be crest fixed on each rib at the end of every second rib on intermediate supports.
Long lengths (up to 6.0 meters) are available, but if joining two or more sheets lengthwise, the joins should be made over a batten or purlin, with a 150mm overlap.
Screws and seals: It is important to use the special Ampelite weather proof dome seal (grey coloured) accompanied with an Ampelite 10g x 50mm self drilling wood screw to provide excellent weather proof seal.
Drilling: Holes are drilled 6mm bigger than the fastener to allow for sheet expansion and contraction. When using Ampelite 10g screws, the recommended hole diameter is 10mm to the edge of the sheet. Use of a blunt drill is recommended as a new sharp drill may cause damage to sheet.
Cutting: Use a fine tooth handsaw or a power saw fitted with a masonry type cut-off blade. Support the sheet close to where you are cutting. It is good practice to wear protective goggles when cutting any material with a power tool. Ampelite sheeting can be custom cut to length on order, your supplier can arrange this if required.
Accessories:
Ridge capping: Available in Clear and Opal in lengths up to 6 metres. Clear suits all colours as it does not increase the density of colour when applied over the roofing.
Profiled end closure strips: These foam strips are used at the end of the sheets to prevent the entry of birds, leaves, as well as wind driven rain
Screws for fixing Corriglas: Roof: 10g x 50mm self drilling multidrive (Hex/Phillips/slotted) screws and 26mm weatherproof seals in packs of 50 x 50.
Cladding: 10g x 25mm self drilling hex screws and 26mm weatherproof seals in packs of 25 x 25. Always pre-drill the sheets with a drill 2mm larger the fixing screw to allow for sheet movement due to expansion and contraction of the material.
When fixing fibreglass sheeting always work from planks placed over the structural suports.
Ventilation: Good ventilation helps prevent heat build-up and assist air circulation. If heat can be trapped inside the covered area, it is good policy to provide ventilation outlets, or use a specially designed ventilator. Our light, but strong, wind driven turbo vents are ideal.
